Inclement Weather
Salisbury University has developed a plan for announcing emergency delays and cancellations. These are most often associated with inclement weather and unpredictable weather patterns occurring in the winter months.
The University will select the appropriate option when dealing with delays that may affect the daily schedule of students, faculty, staff and/or visitors to the main campus. When road conditions are problematic, SU employees and students should exercise good judgment in traveling to and from campus. Those concerned that weather conditions make it too dangerous to travel to campus should follow pre-determined procedures regarding class attendance or work assignments.
Plan A
SU is closed. All administrative offices are closed. All classes, including in-person, distance-learning and online classes, will not meet.
Plan B
SU is closed with University offices closed, in-person classes being canceled and virtual classes able to continue at the instructor’s discretion.
Plan C
SU will operate on a two-hour delay. Offices will open at 10 a.m. Monday/Wednesday/Friday classes will begin with the 10 a.m. class; Tuesday/Thursday classes will begin with the 11 a.m. class.
Plan D (Tuesday/Thursday only)
SU will operate on a 1 hour and 30-minute delay. Offices will open at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday/Thursday classes will begin with the 9:30 a.m. class.
Sign Up for Notifications
Sign up for SMS notifications through the Emergency Alert System (EAS) at Salisbury University. The EAS was developed to provide emergency personnel with a means to rapidly communicate critical lifesaving information to the campus community. The EAS utilizes various communication technologies to increase the likelihood that a majority of the campus community will be alerted since no single solution can reach all individuals. Alerts are also delivered by email to all SU employees and students, as well as social media.
